The large lab at Ambiophonics Institute houses the initial experimental
no- compromise, high-end, 3D Ambiophonic system featuring front and
dual rear full range SoundLab electrostatic Ambiodipoles, and electronics
for the system's 30 speaker channels. Shown are some of the
24 SoundLab Surrstat electrostatic ambience speakers being driven
by convolvers using real stored concert-hall impulse responses, thus
allowing Panorambiophonic reproduction of most existing stereo CDs
or LPs. A video projector and parabolic screen allow 5.1 operas, concerts
and movie soundtracks to likewise be reproduced Ambiophonically.
|

Using
curved electrostatic SoundLab Ambiopoles to form an Ambiodipole results
in a wider and much deeper optimum listening Area. This single
Ambiodipole provides a stage width of some 150 degrees from almost
all stereophonic sources.
|

In back are two pair of SoundLab electrostatic Ambiodipoles: the
furthest rear pair reproduces back surround channels of 5.1 or specially
made PanAmbiophonic 4.0 surround recordings (360 degrees horizontal
only); the nearer rear pair widens the front stage to almost 180 deg.
(Alternatively Acoustat 1+1s.)
|

24
full-range SoundLab electrostatic panels on two balconies as well
as surrounding the listening position on the main floor reproduce
height ambience derived by convolution from full sphere impulse responses.
|

Getting
Ambiophonic's psychoacoustic benefits even on a budget in a small
room. The 12-channel listening room at Ambiophonics Institute
uses a Bose AM-5 satellite front Ambiodipole/subwoofer, and LCD display.
Not shown are the two AM-5 satellites used as the back Ambiodipole
and the eight used for surround ambience.
|

The back Ambiodipole pair of satellite speakers widens a CD stereo
front stage to almost 180 deg, or reproduces specially made PanAmbiophonic
360 deg surround 4.0 recordings, or reproduces front and rear stages
extracted from 5.1 surround sources.
